It’s in for the Fin!

Sami Valimaki made his first career ace on the PGA Tour on Thursday during the first round of the 2025 American Express. The hole-in-one came on the par-3 12th at the Nicklaus Tournament Course, which has a scorecard yardage of 165.

“I hit a couple good shots before that, and then the number was just perfect. Four paces before the pin, come down, and it came there and just released nicely to the hole,” he said.

And a bit of history for Valimaki, as he became the first player from Finland to make a hole-in-one on the PGA Tour.
He said he hit his 8-iron from 176 and said “it looked all the way it was going to go in.”

Valimaki noted that this was his first tournament ace. He shot a 5-under 67 and is tied for 28th, five shots off the lead.
