Max Verstappen is very grateful that he was able to drive with Sergio Perez as his teammate at Red Bull. The Mexican was recently told that he had to leave the team and the current world champion addresses his valued teammate in a nice word of thanks.
“Ah, I can still remember this,” says Verstappen when he receives a photo of himself together with his former teammate Sergio Perez. The Dutchman was always full of praise for the Mexican, but he was recently told that he has lost his seat at Red Bull Racing. From next season, Liam Lawson will take Perez’s place as teammate of world champion Verstappen.
In the reaction to Perez’s departure, Verstappen also has only compliments for his former teammate. “He has been a great teammate,” says the Dutchman when he sees a hug between him and Perez. “I could not have won during this race without his help. I will always be grateful to him for that and for that reason alone I will never forget him.”
Pleasure
However, the races were not the main reason why he liked Perez as a teammate. “We also just had a great time together during the season. He was straightforward and always honest. It’s not often that you have a teammate that you can say all these nice things about. I am very grateful to Checo. Not only as a teammate, but also as a person. It was a lot of fun to work with him,” Verstappen concludes his praise for the Mexican driver.
